As an accredited Professional Home Economist, Amy Snider brings an authoritative perspective on healthy eating to the DineWise Advisory Board. As a practicing home economist, Amy knows the challenges that face American households today. She uses her expertise to advise DineWise on how to create products and programs that fit those lifestyle and nutritional needs.

Graduating from the University of Western Ontario with a degree in Food and Nutrition, Amy Snider has partnered her love of good food with her academic background to act as a consultant to the food industry.

Amy has developed nutrition programs and guided food marketers at food companies in the United States and Canada on how to share meaningful nutrition messages with their customers. As part of a leading consulting team, Amy has worked on creating recipe programs for clients such as Heinz, Unilever and Clover Leaf Seafoods. Amy also uses her nutrition expertise to provide nutritional analysis for magazines and cookbook authors.

Public education is an important role for Amy. She speaks about healthy eating and nutrition to community-based groups focusing on the prevention and management of diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and osteoporosis. She also teaches cooking classes to groups of all sizes on various healthful eating topics.

Because of her enthusiastic, practical approach to healthy eating, Amy has appeared on television and in print media, acting as a spokesperson for companies such as Dempster’s Whole Grains, Kellogg’s, U.S. Farmed Catfish and Vlasic Pickles.

Amy’s passion for cooking delicious healthy food is showcased in her first cookbook, Fiber Boost, Everyday Cooking for a Long, Healthy Life (Key Porter 2004). Fiber Boost is full of tasty tips on how to incorporate more disease fighting fiber into your diet everyday.
